Living in Arkansas for the last 10 years has given me the chance to explore all the beautiful scenery and secret hideaway spots in local parks that are perfect for a nice photography session. But every once in a while, traveling to different states presents the opportunity to capture unique architecture with rich history. Janice, known by her friends as Jam, wanted to take her senior cap and gown photos in front of Plant Hall on the University of Tampa’s campus. This beautiful structure was built in 1891 by Henry B. Plant and was originally an elegant winter resort with its ornate details and intricate domes. Some of the Hall’s famous guests included Teddy Roosevelt and the Queen of England. Babe Ruth even signed his first baseball contract in hotel’s grand dining room! Now the hall is the center of the University of Tampa. It hosts a museum on one side and classrooms, laboratories and administrative offices on the other side. The students enjoy exploring it’s fun design and even are given keys to the top as seniors to sign their names along with those who have graduated before them. Such rich traditions flow deep in the University of Tampa.
Jam shared with me her own excitement of climbing to the top of Plant Hall and signing her name. I was happy to pull her away from finals for a quick hour to capture her upcoming graduation. She has worked hard to graduate with a Psychology degree where she plans to work in an HR department helping to find the best people for each job. What an amazing way to serve people by aligning their best qualities with well suited tasks.
Jam, it was so wonderful to meet you and share in some of the graduation traditions with you (popping a bottle of champaign in front of the UT sign). Your contagious and genuine smile was so easy to capture. Good luck on graduation and all your future plans!
Those are amazing you are such a beautiful young lady. It has been awesome that you’ve allowed us to be apart of your life. Congratulations on finishing all of your hard work, late nights and energy has paid off. May you continue to create the beautiful life you have worked so hard for. Love you Barbara and Kevin
These photos are absolutely Stunning Jessie! Jams smile is certainly contagious, even all the way from Maryland it’s got me smiling! Your pictures captured Jams energy and radiance perfectly and I’m in awe of these. Jam and I, we’ve known each other since we were little and I could not be prouder of who she’s become and I’m more excited now than ever to see where her hard work takes her. I find comfort in knowing no matter where her ship takes her she’ll have a beautiful smile and good company along the way. Sending lots of love from Maryland!! Your visiting can’t come soon enough 🙂
